22 Degrees.

August 18th, 2008

This would just happen to be the door to our new house.

Well, not really, but there’s no harm in dreaming is there?! Seriously, I have my eye on that place and am so determined to get it.. somehow.

Today’s been really, pretty cool. We rode up to the windmill for a drink and around the common. My sister, Libby, fell in love with a horse and it was just a nice ride in the Sun.

Yesterday was nice. At 6 we got on a train to South Kensington to buy sandwiches, but the canteen was shut. So we bought ice cream and wandered round, bought some really snazzy new clothes for Nathan and the approaching Autumn, went to McDonalds (how unhealthy!) and came home and flopped in front of the TV before bed. It was all spontaneous and we had heaps of fun.

And as for tomorrow, I’m going to have to start the last pile of my birthday thank-you notes. I find it irritating how I already said thank-you to the people’s faces, but hey, sometimes it’s nice to have it in writing too, ey? Nothing like old-fashioned ways.

Nathan’s been busy with website work, he works hours a day, concentrating so hard, it’s really pretty amazing to see someone so dedicated to something. But he loves doing what he does and earning from it, so I couldn’t be happier for him. Life is actually going to be okay for us, coming from separate sides of the World, we’ve managed to get pretty well established and abolished distance and are just trundling along. It’s really lovely to think of how far we’ve both come. 2 years ago, I had no idea where I’d be today. I fell in love with a man millions of miles away from me. He travelled to meet me and stay and I fell even more in love and was heartbroken when he had to leave. But now we’ve jumped that hurdle and can look forward to other things ahead. Life is never a breeze, but it sure is exciting when you don’t know what’s around the corner for you. Well, I sure find it exciting!

Now I’m rambling.

Oh, I made some banana pancakes the other morning. I had no idea what I was doing, but they didn’t taste too bad! I just made pancake batter and mashed up bananas and threw them in (like it was that complicated to figure out) and my word, they were pretty yum for my cooking standards!

Why do I always seem to include food into literally every single post I write?! Maybe I’m just a constantly hungry person? I’ll have to get back to you on that one.

But as for now, that was just a little update from little London. [:

Until next time! Adiós!

Summer Fun!

August 13th, 2008

So here would be the first update in August from both of us sitting here in London. We left Sydney last week and after a hellishly stressful journey, we both made it here just a day apart! Nathan arrived on the morning of the 9th and was thrown into a birthday party my mum had been planning for months! But he did really well considering it all and by the end, we just collapsed from jetlag! He’s the best birthday present I’ve ever had and he definitely made the day the most special it possibly could be.

It’s been quite nice weather here. Mid 20′s with Summer showers which are refreshing. We bought Mario Kart for the Wii which we’ve been playing heaps, it’s just so much fun! I’m hoping today for us to have lunch at the windmill’s cafe which is so quaint. I really like it there with their picnic benches under the 19th century windmill.

We made the best banana cake ever the other day. It’s a family recipe from Nathan and now it’s proudly in our hands and I’m prepared to guard it no matter what! It sounds selfish, but it’s almost too good to share! We didn’t cook it long enough so there was a tiny trickle of goo in the middle which was all warm and it really added to the taste of it. I swear, we could sell them and make a mint!

Right now, we’re sitting here with the Olympic rowing on, it’s pretty exciting. It’s all been pretty exciting really. Australia’s doing really well with their medals, and surprisingly, so is the UK. So we’re both happy in that respect.

We found a shop just 5 minutes down the road which sells South African food, but they sell Milo too! I can’t believe all the time I’ve been living here, it’s been right under my nose! But we went along and bought some and also picked up some grape fanta which is actually rather nice! As for now, we have to pop out for some groceries and hopefully the Sun will come out from behind the clouds again for lunch!

Until next time!

Ten Things.

July 22nd, 2008

Ten things we’re loving right now.

[Nathan's 5] -

1. This Girl.

Truth is, I couldn’t live without Kitty. She is my everything, and my all, and I wake up each day just to look into her gorgeous eyes, and realise that I am so blessed beyond words. I dedicated my life to her, and I’m the happiest boy alive for even being able to do so. <3

2. A List Apart.

A List Apart is a really fantastic site about web design and development. I probably enjoy it where a lot of people won’t, but I just find the articles really inspiring, and really well written. They select two articles by hand each week to publish, discarding hundreds of other quality articles written by both famous and no-name designers. Every article is accompanied by brilliant illustrations by famed designer Kevin Cornell, which add to the fun and interestingness that is ALA.

3. Gomez.

What better a way to enjoy an evening with an amazing fiancée, then to sit back, relax, and unwind to some cool tunes? Gomez are the awesome creators of our cool tunes of choice, and I particularly recommend ‘How We Operate’, ‘See The World’, and ‘Hangover’, among bunches of other great songs! If you want to give them a spin, try checking out their page over at last.fm, or their website.

4. Pasta!

Oh gosh, I’m making myself hungry mentioning this, but boy does it ever deserve a mention! The best, most simple, cheapest way to make a wholesome, filling lunch or supper, this is the way we get our bellies full. Holy great big bowls of pasta, Batman!

5. Top Gear.

Top Gear

I feel like such a typical bloke mentioning half the stuff I have, but be damned if I can help myself! Both Kitty and I have a massive liking of Top Gear right about now, especially now Season 11 is out! I admit that if I have to give some decent reasoning to this decision, there is some: the camera work on the show is simply phenomenal. They can turn any car into a monster on the show, and that’s probably why I love it! Check out the top gear website for some more information.

[Kitty's 5] -

1. This Man.

This man will always be on my list, no matter where I go or what else I’m loving at the moment. He’s just so perfect for me and I love him with all my heart. So this man is what I’m most loving right now and he’s the man I’ll be most loving forever. <3

2. The Beach.

We’re loving the beach.. not that we’ve been… yet! And yes, we are planning to hit the white sandy shores of Australia very soon indeed. The weather is just so spectacular at the moment, how can we not plan it? The idea of a beach day highly excites me as if I’m 5 all over again. We particularly are fond of this photo too by Frederic Beaulieu .

3. Weet-bix!

Weet-bix! It’s our morning ritual. After waking up and fighting the cold to get out from under the covers, we scuttle into the kitchen and grab our two favourite bowls. We throw 5 weet-bix in each with milk and shove them in the microwave before smothering them with brown sugar. Today, Nathan said, “There’s more sugar than weet-bix” which made me smile. We always eat them on the bench out the back in the warm Sun and just wake up slowly.

4. Picnics!

Picnics such as this one. I decided to go and set up a picnic up in the woods for Nathan one day and we turned it into a formal event and both wore our smartest clothes. It was heaps of fun, and I even nicked the wind chimes from the garden to hang on a tree! I may or may not be planning another one some time. Watch this space.

5. Vintage Prints.

I don’t know what it is that attracts me so much to collage art which has such a unique vintage look, but something about it just makes me turn my head. If I had all the wall-space in the World, it would be covered with vintage frames with collage art in, some of my own, some from elsewhere. I particularly like these two heart prints from here.
