Snowstorms!

January 10th, 2010

If this image doesn’t scare you, then I don’t know what will! What on Earth is going on with the weather?! Yes, usually Winter is cold and you do get snow, but that doesn’t even look like Britain! That looks more like Iceland. Well, I guess we now know what happens when we demand they pay their debt back to us… they ice us over!

We have had 25cm where we live in London which is insane. Then we had “The Big Freeze” when all the roads then turned into 25cm of solid ice which was so frightening. So today we went for a walk to take some photos from the snow which dumped itself upon us a week ago. It’s scary how deep it still is! But we had a lot of fun running around and lobbing snow about the place. Got to love Winter. [:

In other news, we’re off to France at the end of the week for a holiday. I currently have a stye on my eye and have my pityriasis rosea skin condition back, so looks like something’s trying to tell me I’m run down. But I’m totally not, I’ve never had so much vitamin C in my life! Anyway, I have work experience with a very well known photographer tomorrow which I’m both excited about and terribly nervous about too! Nathan is working hard again after a lovely Christmas break together which I was so, so grateful for. Full steam ahead for 2010!

Roller-oller-blading!

January 4th, 2010

For Christmas, I bought Nathan a pair of in-line blades for us to go on long adventures with. I’ve had a red pair since I was 14 which still miraculously fit me, so we can now zoom around London together! So today we went to test them out at my Grandparent’s tennis court sans the embarrassment of pedestrians. It was all snowy and icy, but we found our feet and had a really great time racing up and down the court in the sunset. It was -3 degrees, so we were pretty cold by the end of it, but the adrenalin kept us warm enough to get home. I took a detour and kidnapped Nathan to take sunset photos which have come out beautifully. I’ll keep them as a surprise for another day. [:

That’s it for now. Toodles!

Christmas and 2010!

January 3rd, 2010

3rd day of 2010 and we are absolutely loving this year. Everyone keeps saying “This is your year” to us and it excites me so, so much. Who knows what the next 12 months will hold? I’m so excited. I love the buzz of new year, you just want to get up and create.

Christmas was lovely, lovely, lovely. Very busy with a lot of relatives, that’s the problem with a big family who each have big families themselves. But we always love Christmas time. We exchanged gorgeous presents. Nathan bought me a bag I had fallen in love with back in May. It was a designer photography bag but I couldn’t ever hope to afford it, but I never realised Nathan had bookmarked it. So it was a huge surprise to unwrap my dream bag which now houses my little Canon and lenses. And then he got me a gorgeous top and handbag which I had been eyeing up forever. I bought him several games he wanted and a pair of roller blades. We’re hopefully going to use them tomorrow. Yay!

New Year’s was very sweet. Every year we take a Chinese takeaway up to my Grandparents in the early evening to make them feel involved in their old age. They always enjoy it, and so do we! So we did that and we all hung around afterwards with bloated tummies. I found some old vinyl records that my Grandpa let me borrow for some photographs, so I have a million ideas for them. Nathan and I decided against going out, it was too cold and we didn’t want to have to wait for hours to see a 10 minute display. So we watched it on TV instead whilst sipping our wine and we then watched a million paper lanterns take off into the sky over the horizon from our windows. It was magical and like a dream.

This was us on Christmas Day sitting down to lunch which was really yummy. I feel sick thinking of all that food though! We seriously weren’t hungry for the next 3 days!

We’re hopefully off on holiday next week, but we’re due for a massive snow storm at the end of this week, so that’ll of course create havoc with transport, so we’re holding off booking for now until we know what’s going to happen with Jack Frost’s plans.

Until next time and happy 2010!
