Tomorrow is the last day of January. Feels kind of hard to believe that the first month of 2010 has already come and gone in the blink of the eye. It makes me happy though, I love fast months followed by the slow before everything builds up momentum again by the end of the year. This won’t be a sleepy year. We’re teenagers on fire.
We returned from Lille in France earlier this week after a fabulous holiday. I have never had so much fun walking around, speaking French, eating bread, bouncing on hotel beds and touching the ceiling, shivering in -3 degrees, sleeping whenever we wanted, buying pretty souvenirs for the family and taking a million photos together. We were so free and had a wonderful time. I’ll put some photographs below in a minute. [: Thank you so much once again for the incredible treat, Nay. <3
Yesterday and today were so sunny. After so much snow it’s so nice to feel the sun prickle your skin again. We haven’t had any rain lately, just cloud and more cloud. So seeing the blue sky in winter was a great uplifting boost. We went for gloriously muddy walks and took photos of the sunset and the huge full moon.
The last few nights we have had a mouse running around our bedroom. We lay a trap with food in, but it was clever enough to get the food out without going inside! This morning was the 4th night it has run around and it woke me up at 3am. I woke Nathan up and he drifted in and out of sleep as I tiptoed around the bedroom moving the trap to where I heard its little feet. By the time Nathan woke up at 8am I was still tiptoeing and feeling like a zombie. He felt groggy too as he kept dosing in and out of sleep all night. We got up and chased the tiny creature around. Nathan managed to corner it, but it jumped away and we carried on our chase. By 10.30 I managed to get it to crawl its tired little body into a trap and we placed her into a tank with sawdust, heaps of hamster bedding, food and water. She was so scared and burrowed away. But she’s been coming out more and more and doesn’t seem so jumpy any more. We are going to release her, but she is so tiny that we feel we need to capture a parent mouse to release her with to give her a fighting chance. Otherwise we’ll just have to be cruel to be kind. She obviously could never be tame and as cute as she is, she’s wild and so we’ll release her in the woods with a bit of food to start her off. I’ll take some photos of her and put them up if she comes out from sleeping. Her name is Honeysuckle.
2010 has been incredible so far. It has given me so many moments which have just taken my breath away. I have so many photographic opportunities lined up for this year and I feel like this is an amazing start. Nathan has been working away on a client’s site as well as finishing off his Mum’s and a new portfolio for me which I absolutely adore. He’s so smart, I wish I could code websites. It’s something I don’t think I could ever master, I’ll leave it to Nathan!
On that note I shall leave you with some recent images and I’m off to grab supper. Until next time!
And a photo that we took today in the 3 o’ clock setting Sun. It was beautiful. <3
