Life Still Goes On.

March 27th, 2009

This week has kicked us in the teeth and fortunately we still have them all. Why do challenges always come at the same time, just like buses?!

Anyway. The weekend is nearly here and I want to start a nice clean week come Monday. I can’t wait for everything to finally settle down again. We’ve had enough change to last a long time now. [:

ocean

Oceans are so calm.
Peaceful.
They connect places,
And people.

windwheel

The wind will carry a baby seed.
It will travel miles over land,
And water.
And it will become a mighty tree.

surprise

Life is full of surprises.
Embrace every one as a new opportunity for something.

We are supposed to share special moments.
Don’t shy away from them.
Love every second you have with a loved one.
You can never have too many memories.

bicycle

Life can look beautiful.
It is just up to us how we perceive it.

Farewell, Constance.

I write this now with a heavy heart. It is Tuesday night and I am writing this in advance as tomorrow I know I shall not be in the mood for talking.

By the time this is posted, Constance will be on her way to a new life and a new home with new friends and new adventures. She will be greatly missed as she was such a loyal and funny companion. You have never seen a dog jump so high or bury so many bread crusts in the flowerbeds. You have never seen a dog climb a tree to catch a squirrel either. She was one of a kind and I pray that she is rehomed quickly and that her next owners still call her Connie. I named her Connie Brambles as she seemed to have an addiction for brambles to get stuck in as she chased birds through them.

Tonight (or last night by the time this will be read) we had some goodbye cuddles with her after dinner and it was a very heart warming moment. She has come a long way and I am proud to let her go knowing that she is an amazing little character with a big heart. I wish Nay and I had our own house so we could take her instead so my parents wouldn’t have to take her back, but sometimes things can’t work out. Who knows, maybe when we do have a house we’ll track Connie down and bring her back. That’d be lovely to have her as our own, but she needs a place where she can stay and I wouldn’t want to remove her from a happy home and put another family through this pain. She deserves a place to permanently stay for the rest of her happy life.

We’ll miss you Connie, and just like we named you, we hope you will find constant love because you’ll always hold a place in our hearts. [:

Parting.

March 24th, 2009

dream

Things have been crazy busy lately that we’ve hardly had the time to sit down and just relax! Sorry for the lack of posts.

Tomorrow we have to part with our newest member of the family, little Connie. She’s not going away for a while, but forever and I am most saddened by it all, as is Nay and everyone else. We got her as a rescue dog to keep our elderly Labrador, Hattie company. They got along fine for a while until they would start to fight. It was occasional at first, so we just shrugged it off until it started to happen every day and the fights would get worse to try and split up, they would sink their teeth into one another and just not stop, even when we’d throw a chair between them and shout at them to stop. They have been living in separate rooms for months now and the house feels like a prison because of having to keep the doors shut. They had a huge fight a few weeks back when Connie found Hattie in the kitchen and we were going to send Connie back. We came around and thought we’d give her 2 more strikes and then she’d be out. We phoned the shelter for behaviour advice and they phoned back asking for Connie to be returned. Tomorrow Connie leaves us for a better future with a family that can give her more than we can. This is no life for her, being shut in and not being allowed to roam. It’s going to break my heart to hug her goodbye, I adore her so much. She’ll jump up so I can catch her and swing her around and I love the way she sits and says please to everything. I hate seeing her so happy here, I wish she was miserable so all of this would be easier. But this is for the best and we’ll always remember her, always. I just hope for the sake of her sweet heart, she’ll be put in a home where she can stay.

Rant over. I feel better for getting that off my chest.

It is my baby sister’s 14th birthday today, but she is in Germany and it feels so weird not having her around to share the day with. Nay and I went out for lunch with Mum which was lovely. She wanted to take her mind off missing her on her birthday, so we all toasted her and had a fantastic meal.

I’m having trouble finding direction for this blog. I keep thinking about what I should really focus on blogging about. I love finding little photos and nitpicks around the place, but I also love to post quirky products and recipes. I like typing whatever I like, so for the time being I shall keep on doing so until I can sort out my ideas more.

At least Spring is finally here.

Wonderful Day!

March 18th, 2009

macaroons

The days have been gloriously warm and sunny here. It was the warmest day of the year yesterday, and it’ll only go up from there. It is all just so exciting, we can finally pull out our summer clothes.

Today has been lovely. We woke up and the Sun was shining. I worked as Nathan dozed in and out of sleep. I went to Uni and got a Pass Plus mark for this term. I was so scared about a fail, but they passed me right through. I was overjoyed and I still have that tingling feeling in my bones. Nathan and I bought chocolate and strawberry milkshakes and walked in the late afternoon sunshine. It is nearly 6.30 and it is glorious to see that the Sun is still up. The clocks change forward in a few days time.

So now I am free for a month, and I am so excited by all the possibilities of fun we can now have! This means we can sit outside and drink tea, bike riding in the park, tennis, picnics and trips to the beach. The list is endless.

We also have tadpoles. I think they’re really adorable. We saved some of them from a puddle which was being swooped by crows, so now they live in our garden. We have about 400 of them, so I’m going to have to start dispersing them in the pond and buckets. Gosh, no wonder the frog parents run off afterwards, who could cope with 400 children?

That would be all for now.
