Stonehenge.

September 21st, 2008

So, after a sleepy start this morning, we found ourselves on a 2 hour train journey to the middle of the countryside. It was pretty fun and the time went really quickly, plus the weather was really warm for nearing the end of September, so it was the best possible day we could’ve chosen!

We spent the day at Stonehenge, walking round it and taking way too many photos as well as having tourists standing on our toes (which was all part of the experience). We even met a real life Druid who really thought he lived in something like 700BC… until his mobile started to ring!

Then tomorrow we’re off to brunch and to just have a chilling Sunday before another week begins. Oh life!

So I suppose that would be the update for now!

Until next time! [:

A Note To Say..

September 16th, 2008

Nathan, if you’re reading this then it’s dedicated to you and this is one of my little ways to say a massive thank-you for all of your support. Your support to me has meant everything, it’s kept me strong and your constant love and devotion has left me speechless on many occassions. And it is my honour to use this blog as a way to also publish this little “thanks” for the World to see.

Last night, you sent me to sleep despite me laying here shaking with nerves and crying about how scared I was to start University and having to be away from you for an unknown amount of time. You took all your tired energy to sit up with me and play music for me and cuddle me to sleep.

Today, you stood by my shaking side as I held back more nervous tears as I felt guilty and selfish for leaving you. When you came to meet me at lunch, you’d bought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers to say well done. You’d bought me my favourite sandwich and I loved how we sat and talked inside the station before you walked me back for my final hour there before I could come home with you. Not once did you complain, but you stood solid as a rock to support me. Even if you were bored out of your wits, never once did I hear about it. It was all, “well done you” and “I’m so proud of you, Kitty.” And now it’s my turn to say well done to you.

Thank you so much for standing by my side through the thick and thin. For constantly being my safety net and the person who looks after me so well. You really did treat me like royalty today and I just don’t know what to say! Everything you did was so perfect that it leaves me completely and utterly lost for words. Nothing I can say or do can even return the gratitude. Knowing you’re here for me is one of the best gifts I have ever had. I don’t know what I ever did so right to deserve you because you are what I always considered “out of my league” – but yet you chose me as the one to devote yourself to. I couldn’t help but devote myself to you since the moment I met you. I remember being so nervous the first time I ever spoke to you on the phone! And now I hate talking to you on the phone because it reminds me of the 7 months we were apart and not able to get to one another. But it isn’t always negative, talking on the phone also reminds me of when I called you when I landed in Australia to say I was around the corner and about to be with you again, but this time – there’d never be any separation between us again like we’d been through.

So Nathan, this is just a note to say thank you for loving me the way you do. In return, I’m going to treat you to a great day out because you deserve it more than anything. You’ve been such an amazing inspiration to me and an incredible “other-half” – so thank you.

I love you more than words can ever say. I’m forever your’s.

We’re Not Dead!

September 12th, 2008

<3

We’re not dead! We just haven’t been blogging as often as we’d like to have been able to. Things have been hectic, what with us moving into our first place together and busy with work. But here we are now making the effort to make a super-dooper entry!

So above are two of our photos of blossoms. Nathan and I first made proper conversation over the first photo, and ever since, this photo has been one of my favourites due to that very reason. The second would be Nathan’s which I really simply love (there’s no other word for it). It just looks so magical and the pink tones are gorgeously perfect. I guess I put them up as we’re heading into Autumn and the days become shorter and these are just so full of Springfulness. But that doesn’t mean you can steal them or anything, but we believe you wouldn’t want to do that anyway!

Anywhoodles though. We’ve both been busy (Nathan much more than I though) working on his current project. It’s fun to try and help out, yet I never realised how hard coding was. But the more I watch him, the more I’m beginning to be able to decipher what he’s doing (or maybe I’m just making it up to feel smart?) Either way, he’s doing such a spiffing job and I am just so proud of him for slaving away on it and staying so focussed.

We went for a walk at dusk in the local park the other night which was really nice. It suddenly got really chilly and we watched the moon which was just so bright. It’s just round the corner from our house now so we can just pop round the corner for 2 seconds to play there. [:

I’d really like to get my Holga shots developed soon. They’re one of those things which I’ve been meaning to do since I finished the film. But every Friday I realise another week has gone by and I haven’t done it yet! So this next week, no more forgetting or excuses, they shall be sent of to be developed!

We watched “The Strangers” last night whilst huddled in bed. We watched it at around 1am which wasn’t the best time, but now when I think back on it, it was quite good. At the time I was either hiding my eyes or jumping too much to really appreciate it, but it was the freakiest thing I’ve seen. I think we both agreed that the ending was a bit rubbish though.

Oh! As a surprise for Nathan I ordered a package for him to open. I thought it was a pretty cute idea to have given to him. We had to be apart for 7 months not that far back which was very emotionally draining, and we’d always say that at least the same stars would watch over us. So I decided to put us amongst those same stars and I adopted two, side by side which have been nicknamed “Nathan” and “Kitty”. Oh what a surprise! They’re in Canis Major which can only be seen clearly from the Southern Hemisphere, but hopefully soon, we’ll go and look for them.

They’re somewhere up there!

It’s the peak of blackberry season here which has inspired me to try out a new recipe. I was flicking through my magazine the other night to see a recipe for something called a “Blackberry Fool” which looks absolutely delicious and now I’m dying to make one!

So here’s my recipe for it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 vanilla pod, cut in half lengthways and seeds discarded
  • Juice and peel of 1 lemon
  • 300g/1lb 2oz fresh blackberries, rinsed
  • 150g/5oz caster sugar
  • 500ml/18fl oz whipping cream
  • 2-3 drops vanilla essense
  • Extra blackberries to decorate

Place the vanilla pod into a pan with the lemon juice and peel, the blackberries and 130g/4 and three quarters of the caster sugar, cover with a tight-fitting lid and simmer for 7-8 minutes until the blackberries start to break down. With the lid still on, leave to cool. Remove and discard the lemon peel.

Whisk the whipping cream with 2-3 drops of vanilla essence and the remaining sugar until semi-whipped.

Transfer the cooled blackberry compote into a large mixing bowl then carefully fold in the cream in three lots using a spatula. You may want to taste the mixture before adding all the cream, depending on how strong you want the blackberry taste. Spoon into tall sundae glasses and serve topped with an extra blackberry. (Serves 6).

And I guess that would be it from us today. Until next time then!
