15th Anniversary Encroached by Ringworm?!

August 20th, 2008

Today is our 15th anniversary! 15 months that is, not years. We don’t count in years, plus 15 years ago would mean we’d've been together since we were learning to live! But anyway, the Sun seems to be popping out and we’re planning to head out to dinner which should be nice. I have no idea where yet, but I suppose it’ll be somewhere we like, perhaps MaccyD’s?! But yes. I’m planning to build on my portfolio of photos so want to get some snaps of us together today, I’d really like to explore black and white photography as it’s my weak point. Basically I want to build up my portfolio and build on getting some freelance work rolling.

I’ll definitely put some of the photos from today up tonight or tomorrow. [:

On a more sad note, I seem to have a mystery disease, one which no one can seem to explain. In Sydney, I developed blisters all over my fingers causing me not to be able to use my hands for a few days as they were so swollen and killed. They went away mysteriously after we concluded I must’ve been allergic to something, but now I seem to have a tropical virus.

A few mornings ago, I woke up with a huge blotch on my waist, I assumed I’d walked into a door-frame and it’d bruised, but it started to dry up in the centre. I then spotted new ones popping up all over my legs. I then developed a killer earache and went to the doctor’s on Monday to hear I had tonsillitus and she had no idea what my “rash” was. Nathan and I started to smother them in the cream she gave me and since, there’s now an epidemic of Weil’s Disease in the UK which you get from coming into contact with rat urine. We fortunately have no rats, but my Aunt has been away and she lives with my Grandparents who are elderly 80 year olds. So everyday we’ve been going up there to check they’re still alive and to buy them their daily paper from the village and they’ve been having problems with rats living under their house. The thought makes my skin crawl and I can hardly stand being inside that house anymore knowing that rats could fall through the ceiling! So now I either have rampant ringworm or I’m going to die from Weil’s Disease. Either way, I’ll die peacefully and would very much like to be cremated, I’m pretty sure if I were buried, the rats would find me and gnaw on my dead legs which is an even worse thought.

But no, I’m not going to die. I’m very much alive and just felt like ranting about my special illness which isn’t so special, but rather unattractive on so many different levels.

This was just a silly little blog entry with no particular purpose other than to say a huge Happy Anniversary to my darling angel, Nathan. We’ve made it this far. At times we thought we’d never make it as far as we have, but yet we’ve conquered it. Despite the discouragement people may have said like, “You haven’t made it” – I think we have. So what if we haven’t been married for 50 years, what does that prove that we can’t prove now? Love is everlasting, so why is it considered to be such a hurdle to be devoted to someone for that long? I feel bad by even mentioning this because the one person who really discouraged everything doesn’t even deserve to be thought about, especially on our anniversary. But the thing is, I laugh in their face because they know nothing about us. All that you ever need to know Nathan is that I love you. I worked so hard to make it to Australia to be with you and you worked so hard to make it back to London with me afterwards. Together we make a team and we work together. With you, I can open up and share my dreams and even fears. In you, I found a best friend who cares for me and I couldn’t ask for a better person to be with. You are my wildest dreams Nathan and you constantly take my breath away. Nath, I loved you yesterday, I love you today and I will love you tomorrow and forever.

22 Degrees.

August 18th, 2008

This would just happen to be the door to our new house.

Well, not really, but there’s no harm in dreaming is there?! Seriously, I have my eye on that place and am so determined to get it.. somehow.

Today’s been really, pretty cool. We rode up to the windmill for a drink and around the common. My sister, Libby, fell in love with a horse and it was just a nice ride in the Sun.

Yesterday was nice. At 6 we got on a train to South Kensington to buy sandwiches, but the canteen was shut. So we bought ice cream and wandered round, bought some really snazzy new clothes for Nathan and the approaching Autumn, went to McDonalds (how unhealthy!) and came home and flopped in front of the TV before bed. It was all spontaneous and we had heaps of fun.

And as for tomorrow, I’m going to have to start the last pile of my birthday thank-you notes. I find it irritating how I already said thank-you to the people’s faces, but hey, sometimes it’s nice to have it in writing too, ey? Nothing like old-fashioned ways.

Nathan’s been busy with website work, he works hours a day, concentrating so hard, it’s really pretty amazing to see someone so dedicated to something. But he loves doing what he does and earning from it, so I couldn’t be happier for him. Life is actually going to be okay for us, coming from separate sides of the World, we’ve managed to get pretty well established and abolished distance and are just trundling along. It’s really lovely to think of how far we’ve both come. 2 years ago, I had no idea where I’d be today. I fell in love with a man millions of miles away from me. He travelled to meet me and stay and I fell even more in love and was heartbroken when he had to leave. But now we’ve jumped that hurdle and can look forward to other things ahead. Life is never a breeze, but it sure is exciting when you don’t know what’s around the corner for you. Well, I sure find it exciting!

Now I’m rambling.

Oh, I made some banana pancakes the other morning. I had no idea what I was doing, but they didn’t taste too bad! I just made pancake batter and mashed up bananas and threw them in (like it was that complicated to figure out) and my word, they were pretty yum for my cooking standards!

Why do I always seem to include food into literally every single post I write?! Maybe I’m just a constantly hungry person? I’ll have to get back to you on that one.

But as for now, that was just a little update from little London. [:

Until next time! Adiós!

Summer Fun!

August 13th, 2008

So here would be the first update in August from both of us sitting here in London. We left Sydney last week and after a hellishly stressful journey, we both made it here just a day apart! Nathan arrived on the morning of the 9th and was thrown into a birthday party my mum had been planning for months! But he did really well considering it all and by the end, we just collapsed from jetlag! He’s the best birthday present I’ve ever had and he definitely made the day the most special it possibly could be.

It’s been quite nice weather here. Mid 20’s with Summer showers which are refreshing. We bought Mario Kart for the Wii which we’ve been playing heaps, it’s just so much fun! I’m hoping today for us to have lunch at the windmill’s cafe which is so quaint. I really like it there with their picnic benches under the 19th century windmill.

We made the best banana cake ever the other day. It’s a family recipe from Nathan and now it’s proudly in our hands and I’m prepared to guard it no matter what! It sounds selfish, but it’s almost too good to share! We didn’t cook it long enough so there was a tiny trickle of goo in the middle which was all warm and it really added to the taste of it. I swear, we could sell them and make a mint!

Right now, we’re sitting here with the Olympic rowing on, it’s pretty exciting. It’s all been pretty exciting really. Australia’s doing really well with their medals, and surprisingly, so is the UK. So we’re both happy in that respect.

We found a shop just 5 minutes down the road which sells South African food, but they sell Milo too! I can’t believe all the time I’ve been living here, it’s been right under my nose! But we went along and bought some and also picked up some grape fanta which is actually rather nice! As for now, we have to pop out for some groceries and hopefully the Sun will come out from behind the clouds again for lunch!

Until next time!
